THE GOALIE EDGE - 10/9/2013
Only 3 games on the slate tonight, the first match will tell a lot about Jaroslav Halak and the St. Louis Blues as they take on the defending Champion Chicago Blackhawks. Halak is off to a terrific start and may just have a bit of an advantage playing on home ice in this one. Chicago will prove to be a much tougher opponent than the Florida Panthers. If he continues his fine play in the crease, that would be a boost to the Blues.....Montreal is heading to Calgary and could be in for a surprise if they don't take the Flames seriously. G Carey Price must be focused in these types of games if he ever wants to reach the ultra-elite status as an NHL goaltender. Max Pacioretty is returning after missing a game with an injured wrist, so that should help the offense. Joey MacDonald played well in his last outing against the Vancouver Canucks but let the game slip away in the 3rd period. The Habs have it....Another tough goalie matchup for the LA Kings as Craig Anderson will be pitted against Jonathan Quick, who should be determined to let his last game's gaffe fade away from his memory. This is surely a tossup but give the slight edge to the home team Kings.
