THE GOALIE EDGE - 10/8/2013
Tonight's home matchup for the Flyers against the Panthers is the first under interim head coach Craig Berube, who will be looking for a more inspired effort from his 0-3 squad. Lucky for them, their opponent was just demolished 7-0 by St. Louis. Take Steve Mason and Philly.. The return of Cory Schneider to Vancouver should be a doozy, but wouldn't you think that Roberto Luongo would absolutely love to have this one? The Devils blew a huge late lead to Edmonton last night, while Vancouver is coming off a thrashing of that same Oiler team. Slight edge to Luongo... Phoenix has only won 5 of it's last 20 road games, while the Isle's look to give the home fans a treat after dropping their home opener to Columbus. Nabokov wins.. If the same pattern from last season follows, then Colorado's goalie Semyon Varlamov is likely to lay an egg on the road against Jonathan Bernier and the Leafs. However, the Patrick Roy factor changes everyhing. Too close to call.. Great win by New York last night in L.A., but Antti Niemi should be tough to beat for San Jose. Take the Finn over the Swede..

Steve Mason, Philadelphia v.s. Florida
Evgeni Nabokov, NYI v.s. Phoenix
