The Devils placed Bernier on waivers Monday, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports. Bernier appeared in 78 games with the Devils last season and re-signed with New Jersey during the offseason, but the Devils' depth up front cost him a spot on the Opening Night roster. Bernier could be claimed off waivers, but if he does not, he will report to AHL Albany.
