The Detroit Red Wings will retire Nicklas Lidstrom's No. 5 on March 6 before a game against the Colorado Avalanche. Lidstrom resisted any temptation to return during the lockout-shortened 2013 campaign after retiring in May 2012. The Wings declined to retire his number this year because they thought the shortened season wouldn't allow them to give the event and Lidstrom their proper due.
