The Detroit Red Wings are reportedly interested in acquiring Joe Thornton. Thornton would reportedly like to stay in San Jose and he can make that happen given his no-movement clause. Keep in mind he also likely accepted less than market value when he inked his three-year, $20.25 million contract in order to make things easier on the Sharks. At the same time, the Sharks are in a rebuilding phase and they might be able to convince Thornton to move to a contender to continue his pursuit of the Stanley Cup.
