The Dallas Stars have signed defenseman Sheldon Souray to a one-year/$1.65 million contract. Souray spent the entire 2010-11 season in the minors after demanding a trade out of Edmonton as the Oilers were not able to accommodate him. He was bought out of his $4.5 million deal today when the Oilers placed him on unconditional waivers and he passed through. Souray gets himself in a good situation in Dallas as he will man the point on the power play with Alex Goligoski. Look for Souray to play with a chip on his shoulder next season as he proves to the rest of the NHL how good he is.
