The common refrain from the Red Wings after their 6-0 loss to St. Louis on Saturday was that they have to be much better.
The Wings were outshot 17-2 after the first period and finished at a 36-14 disadvantage. "Obviously not the start we wanted for the season," forward Henrik Zetterberg said. "They were better in every field. It wasn't a very good game. You just can't pinpoint one thing. There was a lot of stuff that went wrong." Coach Mike Babcock was disappointed in his team. "They were better from start to finish," Babcock said. "They were quicker and more competitive on the puck. I can think of four goals that were just gifts, not just earned. They were all over us. Their defense had an easy night. They were on top of us and we weren't very good. We have to be way better than this."
