The Calgary Flames are toying with the idea of loaning Sean Monahan (foot) to Team Canada for the 2014 World Juniors. Monahan is currently out with a hairline fracture in his foot, so he might not be healthy enough to play. If he is though, it would provide him with a chance to play big minutes in some high pressure games on a team with expectations. Monahan didn't make the cut for last year's Canadian squad, but he has 15 points in 24 games as an NHL rookie.
