The Blackhawks traded Sharp and Steven Johns to the Stars in exchange for Ryan Garbutt and Trevor Daley on Friday.
It was only a matter of time before Sharp was traded by the Hawks, as the team needed to unload him due to cap constraints. There were reports that Sharp may end up with the Bruins, but he ultimately landed with the Stars, who have the cap space to take on his contract. Sharp had a wonderful ten year career with the Blackhawks, raising the Stanley Cup on three different occasions over that span. He will likely assume a top-six role with the Stars, and will likely continue to be a solid offensive contributor for the foreseeable future. He tallied 16 goals and 27 assists for a total of 43 points in 68 games with Chicago in 2014-15.
