Canucks coach Willie Desjardins indicated that Tanev is currently in the first step of the recovery process. A sound defender adept at moving the puck, Tanev will extend his absence to three games Saturday. While he doesn't offer much value offensively, Tanev has averaged close to 22 minutes of ice time per game this season, including 1:12 on the power play, so there's a bit of a void in those areas. Since Tanev is still ailing, Lucas Sbisa should be the one to hold down the fort on the top pairing with Ben Hutton.
