Smith (leg) suffered a setback during Wednesday's practice and has returned to Edmonton to undergo further evaluation, Daniel Nugent-Bowman of The Athletic reports.

The Oilers have four games remaining on their five-game road trip, so at this point it appears likely Smith will be sidelined until next Thursday against the Jets at a minimum. A more definite timetable for Smith's return may be established after Edmonton's training staff is able to evaluate him further, but for now, Mikko Koskinen will continue to operate as the team's No. 1 netminder.
