Steve Mason will play between the pipes in the Philadelphia Flyers' season opener. "We had to have a starting point here," Flyers coach Peter Laviolette said. "Steve came in last year and really played terrific for us." Ultimately, Mason and Ray Emery will be splitting the goaltending duties unless one of them is able to clearly outshine the other. So while Mason will play on Wednesday, Emery won't have to wait long for his first opportunity.
