Steve Mason was "honored" to be selected as the Flyers' starter for their season opener on Wednesday. Mason turned aside 22 of 25 shots in a 3-1 loss, but he didn't end up receiving much blame for the defeat. "He did well," captain Claude Giroux said. "He kept us in the game, made some big saves for us. Anytime your goalie does that for you, you're going to have a chance to win." Ray Emery will probably get his first start on Saturday or Sunday.
