Steve Bernier received a five-minute penalty and game misconduct for boarding Rob Scuderi at 10:10 of the first period of Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final Just not a smart play by Bernier, who never attempted to play the puck as Scuderi was retrieving it behind the net and hit him recklessly into the boards, cutting him in the process. The Devils had killed off an earlier penalty, but the result of this five-minute one was three goals for the Kings, two by Dustin Brown and one by Trevor Lewis. Not a good way to start a do-or-die game on the road.
