Stepan wrapped up the 2016-17 campaign with 17 goals, 38 assists and a plus-19 rating as well as a career-high 209 shots in 81 games.
EDGE Analysis
He's been almost metronomic offensively over the past four seasons, finishing with point totals between 53 and 57 every time, although his pace has varied. It's nice that Stepan saw a bit of an uptick in shots this year, but that was accompanied by a career-worst 8.1 shooting percentage. In an ideal world, he'd be the Rangers' second-line center, as that's a better fit for the soon-to-be 27-year-old's skills, but unless the team makes a major move, expect Stepan to be back in his role on the top trio once again next year. He's under contract with the Rangers beyond the end of this decade.
