Stepan opened the scoring Tuesday against Dallas, then added a shorthanded goal that turned out to be the game-winner.
EDGE Analysis
Since coming back from broken ribs far sooner than expected, Stepan had been quiet -- just a lone assist in six games. However, the five shots Step put on goal against the Panthers on Saturday foreshadowed Tuesday's breakout, in which he fired another five shots. Incredibly, his breakaway-rebound-putback goal was the Rangers' first shortie of the season -- they scored nine when a man down last year, with Stepan accounting for two of those. Now that it seems he's starting to feel like his old self, don't be surprised to see Stepan go on a nice offensive run.
