He'd been slumping recently, picking up a goal for his only point in the last six games. With 35 points on his line, it appears that Staal will -- for the fifth time in five years with Carolina -- fall short of the 50 points he put up (over just 62 games) in his final season as a Penguin, 2011-12. It would take a big-time hot streak for things to go otherwise, but he's shown precious few signs of such capabilities despite constantly skating prodigious minutes.
