The veteran center's paltry 10 goals and 36 points are disappointing enough, but his minus-16 rating takings things to a whole new level of lackluster. Sometimes it's hard to believe that Spezza is just 33 years old since he's in his 14th NHL season, but it appears that Father Time could be catching up to him. Of course, the former Senator could bounce back next season, as he's no slouch when it comes to finding his way onto the scoresheet (848 points in 895 career games), but for now, it's understandable if owners have a bad taste in their mouth about his performance in 2016-17.
