Smith's impressive run to open the season came to an end Thursday as he was pulled in the second period after allowing three goals on 17 shots against the Wild.

Smith and the Coyotes were bound to fall back down to Earth, and in this case they sort of crashed and burned. Anders Lindback came in to replace Smith after Mikko Koivu's shorthanded goal put Arizona in a 3-0 hole. The move by coach Dave Tippett was largely to set a fire under his squad, which it did, as the Coyotes would end up losing by a goal, 4-3. We all knew Smith would eventually start to look like the goalie from last season. If he can find some sort of middle ground, he'll still be playable, so long as the Coyotes continue to win games.
