Coach Mike Babcock scratched Smith for last Saturday's regular-season finale after the defenseman received a costly penalty in the Red Wings' prior game, and it appears he hasn't been forgiven for the mistake. Alexei Marchenko will make his playoff debut in his place, but it still seems possible that Smith will earn his way back into the lineup later in the series.
