Smith, back in the full-time starting role for Arizona following the Devan Dubnyk trade, allowed three goals on 24 shots in Thursday's loss to the Flames. It's just another bad outing and another loss for Smith. Coyotes GM Don Maloney said after trading Dubnyk to the Wild that this deal will allow Smith to take over a full-time role in goal, as if that's a good thing. He's won just three times in his last 18 appearances (17 starts) and has posted a save percentage over .900 only five times in that span. In truth, the trade seems to indicate that the Coyotes are tanking for a better draft pick more than anything else.
