Burakovsky skated on the third line in Wednesday's 7-3 win over the Rangers. He had three shots, one hit and one blocked shot over 16:38 of ice time.
EDGE Analysis
Burakovsky normally lines up on the second line but was dropped in favor of Logan O'Connor, who moved to the top line while Mikko Rantanen took Burakovsky's spot on the second line. The silver lining is that he remained on the top power-play unit. Burakovsky was eventually given TOI as a top-six forward in the third period after Nazem Kadri left the game with a lower-body injury. Colorado head coach Jared Bednar has demoted the Austrian forward before, usually when he's struggling on offense, which could be the case with this decision. Burakovsky has one goal and zero assists over the last seven contests, during which the Avalanche have scored 33 goals. If Kadri's injury lingers, Burakovsky could rejoin the second line Friday night at home against Detroit.
