Shaw has been suspended one game for his homophobic slur directed at an official near the end of Game 4, Chris Kuc of the Chicago Tribune reports. He will also be required to undergo sensitivity training for the incident.
EDGE Analysis
Shaw's comments came near the end of Game 4 after taking a cross-checking penalty that may have cost the Blackhawks a chance at tying the game. His absence comes at a pivotal point in the series, as the Blackhawks head to St. Louis with hopes of keeping their postseason alive. It's possible the 24-year-old winger has played his last game of the season, but that won't be determined until Game 5 is played out. Either Dale Weise or Brandon Mashinter will likely take Shaw's spot in the lineup, but neither really provides the fantasy upside of a guy who's tallied 34 points and 153 shots on goal over 78 games this season.
