Schneider (knee) will be the backup goalie in Thursday's road game against the Panthers, but will start Saturday against the Lightning, Rich Chere of the Star-Ledger reports.

The 29-year-old netminder is returning to the lineup for the first time in 11 games from a knee injury. Devils' coach John Hynes says Schneider "can use one more tough practice," which is why Keith Kinkaid will continue to start Thursday.
