Schlemko signed a one-year, $625,000 contract with the Devils on Thursday, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Devils will bring Schlemko in on a one-way deal, where he's expected to fit in as the team's seventh defenseman. The 28-year-old will be one of the older players on a crowded New Jersey blue line, so his biggest impact will likely come off the ice in terms of the mentoring he provides for youngsters like Damon Severson, Adam Larsson, and Raman Hrabarenka. Schlemko often served as a healthy scratch while spending time with the Coyotes, Stars, and Flames last season, producing one goal and three assists over 44 games.
