Ryan O'Reilly is one of the three finalist for the Lady Byng Trophy. Patrick Marleau and Martin St. Louis are the other nominees. The Lady Byng Trophy rewards "sportsmanship and gentlemanly conduct" married with a "high standard of playing ability." What that typically translates to is a player that gets a lot of points while ending up with very few penalty minutes. By that standard, O'Reilly seems like a good bet to win the award after recording 64 points and just two penalty minutes in 80 games. He is only the second player in NHL history to record two or less PIM while playing in at least 80 contests with the other being Lady Byng winner Butch Goring in 1977-78.
