Ryan Kesler (shoulder/wrist) will continue to be paid during the lockout while he recovers from shoulder and wrist surgery.

Kesler must report to the Rogers Arena every morning by 8 to receive treatment on his injured shoulder and wrist and then skates with Canucks personnel looking on. It was thought that Kesler would be out until December after the shoulder surgery but with the subsequent wrist surgery in June, it appears that Kesler will not be ready until January at the earliest. "I'm still pretty banged up," Kesler said. "Can't shoot. Can't really even stickhandle yet. I think the timeline was December before the wrist. When the wrist came into effect, it really hindered the shoulder. I couldn't do much for eight weeks so that puts you back two months with the shoulder. Strength-wise, I'm pretty far behind." He will return to Cleveland, where he had the surgery, in early December for a re-evaluation.
