Ruhwedel was sent back to AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Wednesday, Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Ruhwedel's stint on the Pens' 23-man roster ends after just one day as he returns to the minors where he has garnered seven points in 10 contests from the blue line. With Derrick Pouliot (undisclosed) still on IR, Pittsburgh has been rotating their defensive depth in order to allow guys to log game time in the AHL. Ruhwedel could be inline for another call-up in the future, but seems doubtful for a long-term spot on the roster this year.
