Roy scored a goal during and registered two shots during Washington's 2-0 win over Carolina on Monday
EDGE Analysis
Roy made an excellent first impression for the Capitals coaching staff after being signed on a professional tryout offer on Sept. 14. A journeyman forward over the last few seasons, Roy's playmaking skills and experience playing center give him a solid chance to make the Capitals' opening night roster given the uncertainty surrounding star center Nicklas Backstrom as he recovers from offseason hip surgery. If he can work his way into a top-six role, the 32-year-old center could make for an interesting late-round flier in standard leagues, but his value is limited to deeper leagues if he can't carve out a more meaningful role over the next few weeks.
