R.J. Umberger could be bought out by Columbus, as a last resort, if the team cannot find a trade partner for him. The Blue Jackets believe they can trade him, though. Umberger requested to be dealt elsewhere in May and he still has three seasons remaining on his current contract at $4.6 million per year.
