Rittich was recalled from AHL Stockton on Saturday.

With Jon Gillies being assigned to AHL Stockton and Chad Johnson (lower body) being day-to-day, the Flames called up Rittich in order to have a healthy backup to Brian Elliott. Rittich has never played in the NHL, but he has played good hockey in his first AHL season -- recording five shutouts, a 2.30 GAA, and a .921 save percentage. The Flames have one more regular season game Saturday in San Jose, so if they decide to rest Elliott, Rittich will the the next man up.
