Rask is expected to center the third line Saturday against the Flyers after being bumped from the first line during Friday's practice, Chip Alexander of the Raleigh News & Observer reports.
EDGE Analysis
Although this may seem like a demotion at first glance, Rask has actually been one of the Canes' better players this season. He's currently tied for the team lead in scoring with 10 points in 16 games, tied for second in power-play points with four, and his plus-minus rating of -2 is respectable on a team that is third-last in the league in goals scored. Given the Canes' offensive struggles, coach Bill Peters is simply switching up his forward lines in an effort find some new combinations that work. The bad news is, if Rask is now skating in a bottom-six role, his opportunites to contribute offensively will decline, and so will his fantasy value. Feel free to bench him in favour of a more viable option.
