Wheeler suffered a knee injury Dec. 10 against Vancouver, resulting in him missing the last seven games. The 35-year-old has averaged 19:13 of ice time -- 4:25 during the power play -- and tallied 12 points over his last 10 appearances. It may still be some time before he returns to play, but the 35-year-old is now eligible since the minimum timeframe of absence for an LTIR designation elapsed Jan. 6.
