Petry played on left side during Wednesday's practice as the Canadiens try to get the right-hand shot comfortable on his off side, Stu Cowan of the Montreal Gazette reports.
EDGE Analysis
Montreal head coach Michel Therrien hasn't ruled out Petry playing on the left side opposite Shea Weber on the team's top defensive pair. If Petry ends up on the top pair, that would mean an extra three or four minutes of ice time per game, which in theory leads to more opportunities for scoring. Therrien added that he's trying out various combinations at defense and hasn't committed to naming any pairings at this time.
