Petr Sykora scored his first goal in 10 games on Tuesday in Buffalo. His 13th tally held up as the game winner in a 4-1 triumph and it was his team-leading fifth game-deciding goal this year. The power-play marker was scored early into the third period on a deflection by Sabres defenseman Andrej Sekera. "I'll take any goal," Sykora said. "I hadn't scored in [nine] games and on that [power play] I was just trying to get the puck to the net for a rebound for Zubie and it got tipped along the way and kind of went perfectly far side. I didn't really try to hit that corner, but I'll take it and, hopefully, the puck is going to go in a little more for me."
