Pavel Datsyuk is hopeful that he will be able to play on Thursday after a lower-body injury forced him to sit out Wednesday's loss on Long Island. The injury caught the Red Wings by surprise, as they didn't even have time to bring up someone from the minors prior to Wednesday's contest. Detroit ended up playing 11 forwards and seven defenseman in a 5-1 loss to the New York Islanders. Datsyuk is being listed as day-to-day.
