Patrick Sharp's absence from the Chicago Blackhawks' lineup will mean more playing time for rookie Jimmy Hayes.
Sharp will be out for three to four weeks because of a wrist injury. Chicago coach Joel Quenneville said Hayes and Andrew Shaw will be relied upon to help fill the void created by Sharp's absence. ""Hayes might get a better opportunity," Quenneville said. "He's been really good for us in every game he's played. Shaw's played well and Ben was really good for us last year. He's been playing well (for Rockford)." Hayes has two goals in five games and Shaw one in three after their recalls from Rockford to help offset the losses of Marcus Kruger (concussion) and Daniel Carcillo (suspension, left knee injury). "Anyone's misfortune is someone else's opportunity to show themselves and prove they can also be in this league." Shaw said. "It's misfortune for (Sharp), but if we go out there and keep working, good things will happen."
