Ottawa Senators forward Jason Spezza was on the ice with his teammates at practice this morning for the first time since having back surgery. The star center appeared in only five games this season, scoring two goals and adding three assists, before undergoing surgery on a herniated disc. "I'd like to see Jason on the ice. He's a good player. He's an important player for us," Sens general manager Bryan Murray said earlier this week. "He hasn't played all year though. It's a big step to throw him into a series where everybody's been playing for a long time. I hope to see him at some point in round two. Whether that will happen or not, I don't know." Spezza last played on January 27 against the Pittsburgh Penguins, who will be the Sens' opponents in the second round of the playoffs. The Sens already have seen defensemen Erik Karlsson and Jared Cowen return from injuries, helping them to a first round series victory over the Montreal Canadiens in five games.
