Okposo fired a shot past Samuel Montembeault from the top of the right faceoff circle on the power-play to give the Sabres their first goal of the season just 6:40 into the contest. After a forgettable 13 points in 35 games last season, the 33-year-old will be asked to take on a much more important role for a Sabres team projected to be near the bottom of the NHL's standings and missing their best player Jack Eichel.
