Timashov was designated for unconditional waivers by the Islanders on Monday, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.

Timashov failed to make the Isles' 23-man roster coming out of training camp and logged just one game for AHL Bridgeport before having his contract terminated. Since being selected in the fifth round of the 2015 NHL Draft. the Ukrainian winger saw action in 45 games for the Maple Leafs, Red Wings and Islanders in which he garnered four goals, five assists and 38 shots.
