Varlamov had dueling shutouts going against Philipp Grubauer through two periods, but Jared McCann and Vince Dunn beat him twice in a 2:31 span in the third. New York's bottom-five offense didn't make much of a push in response and finished the game with just 19 shots. The Islanders remain stout defensively, but they're well outside the playoff picture heading into the All-Star break due to their inability to provide much goal support for their goalie tandem of Varlamov and Ilya Sorokin.
