Niskanen will not receive any supplementary discipline following his cross-check to the head of Sidney Crosby in Game 3 on Monday, Isabelle Khurshudyan of The Washington Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Niskanen received a five-minute major and a game misconduct for the hit after logging just 2:09 of ice time. Fortunately for the Caps, they had made the decision to dress seven defensemen on Monday, so losing the 30-year-old didn't impact their blue line. The former Penguin has a goal and an assist in this series and will likely need to keep his head on a swivel during Game 4 as Pittsburgh could be out for retribution after he knocked out their captain.
