Niklas Backstrom stopped all 18 shots sent his way as the Minnesota Wild defeated St. Louis 1-0 Thursday. Matt Hackett stopped all 14 shots in the third period to maintain the shutout as the Wild managed only one shot on the St. Louis net in the final stanza. This result is good news for Backstrom owners as he injured his knee earlier in training camp. He is the Wild's number one goalie with Josh Harding backing him up heading into the start of the season. He is a good second goalie in deeper pools.
