Nicklas Lidstrom has agreed to a one-year/$6.2 million contract extension with the Detroit Red Wings. That's the same amount that Lidstrom made in 2010-11 and it's a more than fair price for a veteran blueliner coming off of a 62-point season. Lidstrom's decision to put off retirement will make Detroit's task a little less daunting going into the free agent period. Detroit will still need another defenseman to replace Brian Rafalski, who decided to retire, but at least their defense won't look completely different in 2011-12.
