New York Rangers luminary Rick Nash has taken a league-high 52 shots in the playoffs but none of them has crossed the goal line in 13 post-season games this year.
And Nash's scoring woes are in the spotlight as the Rangers prepare for Game 1 in the Eastern Conference Final this afternoon against the Canadiens in Montreal. 'Sometimes they go in, sometimes they don't," Nash said. "But when you're in a slump, you have to work your way out of it. The team success is the main thing. The team picture is so much bigger than my individual struggle." Nash was booed by fans at Madison Square Garden last week before the Rangers rallied from a 3-1 deficit to win a second-round series against the Pittsburgh Penguins. Acquired from the Blue Jackets at great cost in a trade that included Brandon Dubinsky, Artem Anisimov and Tim Erixon in July 2012, Nash has playoff numbers too ugly to ignore for long. The Rangers' goals leader the past two regular seasons, he has one goal on 94 shots in 26 postseason games for New York, which has relied on players from all four of its forward lines for scoring.
