Cates is dealing with an undisclosed injury with AHL Lehigh Valley, Bill Meltzer of NHL.com reports.

It was reported that Cates had signed an entry-level deal with the Flyers on Sunday but it was actually his younger brother, Noah Cates, that joined the franchise. The elder Cates brother hasn't appeared in a game since March 5 against AHL Charlotte. He has 10 points in 37 minor-league games this season and hasn't seen any NHL action since February.
