Mikkel Boedker is in line for a big contract if he can replicate his recent success.
Boedker took a step forward in the 2013 campaign, recording 26 points in 48 games, but the Coyotes didn't want to ink him to a long-term contract in the summer of 2013. Instead, the restricted free agent ended up with a two-year, $5.1 million contract. However, Boedker moved himself closer to a big contract by scoring 19 goals and 51 points in 82 games in 2013-14. "He took real positive steps," Coyotes coach Dave Tippett said. "There's still steps for him to grow - his board work, his 200-foot game - there's areas of growth there. But he's gone from being a young player, a player who wasn't sure if he could do it, to a player who knows he can do it now, and he (has) good skill, committed, good teammate, all the things you like in a player."
