Mike Weaver sat out his first game of the season as a healhty scratch Friday night against Carolina. Panthers' coach Peter Horacek had two things in mind when he decided to sit Weaver in the press box. First, the 30-year-old Weaver doesn't play well in back-to-back games. Second, Horacek wanted to get Dylan Olsen some ice time. Weaver has no fantasy value so whether he plays or sits is of little consequence to those in hockey pools.
