Mike Smith was a rock in the net for the Coyotes, making 48 saves in the 3-2 shootout win against the Sharks. Smith was the reason the Sharks wound up with the two points. He faced 16 shots in the first, 15 in the second and 19 in the third. The Sharks are quietly 10-3-2 on the season and coach Dave Tippett has molded them into a confident group that sticks to the game plan. Smith hasn't lost since Oct. 18, though he has a dud a few games ago in which he didn't have a decision. The athletic netminder has a 2.87 goals-against average and .917 save percentage.
