Mike Smith has been named the Phoenix Coyotes nominee for the Bill Masterton Trophy. The trophy is awarded to the NHL player who best exemplifies dedication, sportsmanship and perseverance. Smith had a terrible year last season in Tampa Bay and it was thought he would be a backup goalie at best this season. But he signed on with the Coyotes in the off-season, grabbed the top job and hasn't looked back since. He s 31-19-8 with a 2.36 GAA and a .924 save percentage. He is a must start in all fantasy pools that use goaltending stats.
